STEAM Education is an approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking.

FIRST Inspires

FIRST is the global non-profit organization that runs the leagues CPHS competes in. They have leagues for kids ranging from elementary school up through 12th grade. The RoboLobos have three FTC teams and one FRC team. Each season brings an entirely new game for each league with new objectives.

FIRST Tech Challenge

FIRST Tech Challenge competitions are 2v2 matchups with robots that must fit inside an 18" box when the match begins, but can expand beyond that while competing. The season starts in September and can last until April's FIRST World Championship.

FIRST Robotics Competition

FRC teams build industrial size robots to compete in 3v3 matches on a bigger field. There's more custom fabrication and less time allowed for the build process than FTC. The season starts in January and can last until April's FIRST World Championship.

The RoboLobos have won the gold medal at the 2023, 2024, and 2025 Texas UIL 5A State Championship tournaments, to go along with numerous awards in both FRC and FTC!
